How to cancel Canva Pro

On canva.com, open Settings, then Billing, select Cancel plan and follow the Continue cancellation screens to Cancel subscription. If Google Play or the App Store bills you, the Canva app can't cancel it, so cancel with the store. Pro runs to the end of the period you paid for, and your designs stay on Canva Free.

Check who takes the money

Canva's help is direct about it: "How you cancel depends on where you originally subscribed." Your billing email or bank statement shows whether the charge came from Canva, Google, Apple or PayPal. Canva's steps cover three billers:

Who bills youWhere to cancel
Canva (you subscribed on the web or the desktop app)canva.com → Settings → Billing
Google PlayThe Play Store's subscription list
Apple (App Store)iPhone or iPad Settings → your name → Subscriptions

If the statement line says PayPal, our PayPal guide shows where PayPal lists the businesses it pays.

How to cancel Canva Pro on canva.com

  1. Log in to the Canva account, and switch to the team, that holds the plan.
  2. On the homepage, select your account profile to open the menu.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Go to Billing.
  5. On your plan, select Cancel plan.
  6. Select Continue cancellation.
  7. Choose why you want to cancel, then select Continue cancellation again.
  8. Select Cancel subscription.

Canva sends a confirmation email once the plan is cancelled. Keep it. If a charge arrives after you cancelled, Canva's first suggestion is to look for that email, because without one the cancellation may not have gone through. In Japan the Billing page is called Contract period.

If Google Play or the App Store bills you

Canva lists this among the reasons the cancel option can be missing: "You subscribed through Google Play or the App Store. You can't cancel these subscriptions directly in the Canva app." Cancel in the store instead, the same way you cancel on Google Play or on iPhone. Canva also warns that "uninstalling the app doesn't cancel your plan." Can't find Canva in Google Play's list? You may be signed in to a different Google account, so switch accounts and look again.

Pause instead of cancelling

A monthly or annual plan can pause for three months, though an annual plan qualifies only when it has less than two months left before it renews. The pause starts when the current billing period ends. Nothing is charged while it lasts, premium features pause too, and the plan resumes on its own after three months, with email reminders before it does. You reach it by starting the cancellation, then choosing I want to pause my subscription and Pause for 3 months. One exception: "Pausing a plan is not available from the iOS App Store."

What you keep, and what a refund looks like

Cancelling stops future payments, and paid features stay until the end of the period. After that the account becomes a Free plan, and Canva says "All designs remain accessible on Canva Free." The account itself stays active. Teams work differently. Members lose paid features at the end of the period, designs and Brand Kit content stay on the free plan, and "Cancelling Canva Teams is permanent." If you may want a team plan again, Canva suggests switching to Canva Business instead.

On money back, Canva's refund page says "In most cases, Canva subscriptions aren't refundable", although it reviews every request. For an App Store plan, Apple handles the refund, not Canva.

The trial charge that comes a day early

Canva bills on UTC, and its help says "Depending on your time zone, a charge can appear a day earlier than expected." So a trial you expect to bill on Friday can bill on Thursday. Cancel at least a day before the date Canva shows, and keep that date somewhere with a reminder two days early.

The mistake that keeps you paying

Cancelling the wrong account. Canva's help names it as a reason charges continue: more than one Canva account, and only one of them cancelled. A plan that belongs to another team only shows once you switch to that team, too. Search your inbox for Canva billing emails to find the address that pays, cancel there, and keep the confirmation.

Keeping Pro? Write down the renewal

Put Canva in Subby with its renewal date, monthly or yearly, and the reminder arrives before the charge. As the date gets close, Home lists it among the next payments. Free to use, with ads, and no account or bank login.
